AdventHealth Breaks Ground on New Medical Office Building to Expand Access to Surgery and Specialty Care

Oct. 10, 2023; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to bring more access to surgery and specialty care for the families of our community with a new, state-of-the-art Medical Office Building. AdventHealth held a groundbreaking ceremony on the site of the new construction on its hospital campus just off Howard Gap Road in Hendersonville.

The event on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, included leaders from the business community, law enforcement, emergency response and county commissioners.

AdventHealth knows the health care needs continue to grow in our region and the families in our community are asking for AdventHealth to meet this need.

Brandon Nudd, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer for AdventHealth Hendersonville shared, “They have come to know and trust our promise to provide whole-person care – body, mind and spirit. They tell us daily that they want more access to that level of care. Recognizing AdventHealth does health care differently, families also tell us they want their health care to be local. They don’t want to wait to see a specialist, schedule a surgery or a procedure. They want to take care of their health conditions and needs as soon as possible in a convenient location.”

The new Medical Office Building will also meet the continued requests of doctors who want to have offices on the AdventHealth campus.

As a faith-based, not-for-profit hospital system, AdventHealth is able to embark on a project like this because of a fundamental difference in the way it uses money generated in our community.

Nudd explained, “We are blessed to be able to reinvest that money through our community benefit, which last year exceeded $45 million. This total is made up from uncompensated and charitable care, health and wellness promotion, spiritual care, infrastructure and service line development. This investment is different than paying shareholders of a publicly traded company that may live all over the world.”

Designed by Hoefer Welker architecture firm, the more than 60,000 square foot building will have new spaces for surgical procedures, physician offices, imaging and laboratory services.

AdventHealth is partnering with health care real estate developer, MedDevelopment to offer this additional choice for health care to the region.

AdventHealth is also working with Frank L. Blum Construction and WGLA engineering on the project that is slated to open its doors for patient care in November 2024.
