Meet Our Mom: Liefke M

Liefke and her daughters

The following is a first-person account of a real family's labor and delivery experience at AdventHealth for Women.

My name is Liefke Meyers and I delivered my daughter on January 23, 2019 at the AdventHealth for Women location in Orlando. My pregnancy was a bit difficult as I’m 40 years old and wanted to work full-time the whole term. I had high blood pressure, but Dr. Ashley Hill and his team took care of me throughout the whole journey and monitored me faithfully.

Dr. Hill even agreed to manually turn around my baby at 8 months as she was facing the wrong direction and I really wanted a natural delivery. He was very patient.

At 39 weeks my blood pressure was just too high and Stacy Butschek (my amazing midwife) sent me to the hospital for an induction. I was admitted to the hospital and cared for by another amazing midwife, Jillian Artis, until things got complex. Jillian called in Dr. Hill from home at 2 am to help (after doing an all day shift already). He came in cheerful and full of encouragement that I could do it and helped us get her out naturally. The team prayed with us which put our hearts at ease, and asked my husband how he was doing while most places forget about the man. He was grateful.

Dr. Hill leads an incredible team at AdventHealth Medical Group OB/GYN at Orlando and our last two kids were delivered by them at AdventHealth for Women in Orlando. Dr. Hill is kind and considerate. The midwives are very natural and gentle with great attitudes. We wanted them to know we are so grateful to the good Lord for having this Godly hospital in our region led by kind and caring leaders!

Our birth was just an amazing experience and we appreciate having such caring and prayerful doctors on staff. We highly recommend The Baby Place and staff of AdventHealth for Women.
