Assessment of Safety and Efficacy of Exablate Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption for the Treatment of Patients with Probable Alzheimer’s Disease

The result of this study will help us determine whether blood-brain barrier disruption (BBBD) with Exablate is a safe procedure in the brains of patients with Alzheimer’s Disease. The purpose of this study is to: Test the safety of repeated Exablate BBBD procedures in areas affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and see how it affects (good or bad) the blood-brain barrier and Alzheimer’s disease for you. Determine whether the repeated blood brain barrier disruption in patients with Alzheimer’s disease can influence amyloid content and plaque volumes in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. Functional and cognitive measures will also be measured as an outcome for comparison to baseline. Biomarkers will be collected from blood and spinal fluid specimens.
