Joshua Smith, BS

Josh Smith has a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology from the University of South Florida. Prior to joining AdventHealth in 2011, he worked for MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. At AdventHealth, he started as a Laboratory Research Assistant in the Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Laboratory gaining experience in clinical trials, clinical laboratory testing to include automation, and LIMS integration. Josh currently serves as Laboratory Manager for the AdventHeath Research Laboratory (AHRL) where he led the design of the AdventHealth Cancer Research and Precision Medicine Laboratories. Under his leadership, AHRL serves the various research departments across the Research Institute including Infectious Disease, Oncology, Diabetics and Metabolism, Cardiology, Neurology, and others. The Research Laboratory has also been instrumental throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by deploying teams to the ICUs to execute COVID-19 therapeutic agent studies in both inpatient and outpatient settings as well as working on Operation Warp Speed (OWS) candidate vaccine trials.
