Neuroscience Overview
At the AdventHealth Research Institute, we are passionate about helping people with neurological disorders live life to the fullest. That's why we’re dedicated to finding new ways to prevent, treat and ultimately cure neurological disorders that affect millions of people worldwide.
Using the latest in pharmaceutics, medical devices and bedside techniques to collect and analyze data, we can understand how neurologic conditions affect the brain, leading to better preventive and treatment options. Our multidisciplinary team of neuroscience physicians, nurses and researchers are leading the way with research studies in a wide range of modalities, including physician-initiated trials. Join our mission to create a brighter future for brain health.

This technology is considered the gold standard in noninvasive brain surgery. Treating complex conditions with tiny incisions or no incisions, this technique reduces pain, scarring and recovery time. By delivering a single dose of radiation that accurately targets the tumor, the patient doesn't require multiple treatments. Gamma Knife radiosurgery is a noninvasive brain surgery procedure. Despite its name, it does not use blades or incisions. Instead, it targets and destroys diseased brain tissue with precisely focused radiation while leaving surrounding healthy tissue unharmed. This treatment technology allows physicians to treat brain tumors, lesions, vascular malformations and functional disorders that were once considered inoperable.
AdventHealth is the only health care provider in Central Florida using this robotic-assisted, state-of-the-art technology. The Gamma Knife Center at AdventHealth Orlando includes a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgery and radiation oncology medical experts. We have one of the country's largest and most experienced teams and utilize the Leksell Gamma Knife® Perfexion™ — one of the most technologically advanced noninvasive brain surgery techniques available today.
